About the Artist
Hi, I am Rachel, the creator of Paperi, and the artist behind each piece of jewellery. I first experimented with tiny origami folding when I attempted to recreate a pair of earrings a friend had given me. That simple paper crane inspired a whole collection of plants and animals, each having their own character and charm. The process of choosing paper, folding and sculpting the designs, and finally glazing and setting them gradually reveals a unique creation shaped by the type of paper, and its reaction to the process. It is both rewarding and challenging to watch the process, and to find and sometimes create the designs and I fall in love with each piece as it emerges. I hope that others may find equal joy in the variability, personality, and magic of these tiny pieces of art.
About Paperi
We create beautiful one-of-a-kind origami jewellery. Each piece is individually hand folded from a variety of found paper, then glazed to ensure durability, and finished with nickel-free, surgical steel, or Argentium Silver findings. The entire process acts to preserve and frame the expressiveness and variability of origami folding, and ensure each piece is a uniquely beautiful creation.
